Shots
I'm all done my shots. I am now immune to every disease which afflicts mankind (except rabies and tick-bourne encephelitis). This of course permits me to have wild, promiscuous unprotected sex, take lots of illegal injectable drugs and play with stray dogs with no ill effects.
Just kidding.
I just have to stay on guard. No "Here, puppy puppy puppy!", no going into forests without full protection gear and no eating food from street vendors. Oh, and I also have to disinfect every bottle I drink from or use a straw.
I think I got off fairly lightly compared to the interns in Bangladesh. Marc and Per have to contend with:
"Water-borne diseases and respiratory infections increase during monsoon season (June to October), particularly in the flood zone. 40% of Dhaka city is inundated. The city water supply is polluted as the sewage system has broken down and the risk of spread of water borne disease is very high. Incidentally the risk of being affected by dengue fever and other insect borne diseases has also increased considerably. Medical facilities are poor. Medical evacuations to Bangkok or Singapore are often required for serious conditions. Doctors and hospitals may expect immediate cash payment for health services."
