Mosquitos
Florence has the most beastly mosquitos known to mankind. Our first clue should have been a little plug-in contraption left on the desk. "This machine kills mosquitos".
I don't think our window closed properly. A few days later, my arm started itching. Now, it's covered in red welts. I'm particularly sensitive to mosquito venom. My stepfather isn't bothered at all and can't understand why Mom and I won't go outside at dusk in the summer. Normally, I get huge, white and red bumps which itch for days.
Now I look like I have leprosy. I showed Cristi and Maud the damage they caused and Cristi insisted on taking a picture of the results. I have eleven bites.
I look like a leopard. And they hurt too. And they're hot. You can feel the heat through my shirt.
Those little bastards. Or should I call them bitches. After all, only the female moquitos bite.
I have five on my left arm, two on my back, two on my right arm, one on my eyelid (yes, my eyelid. Please explain the logic) and one on my knee. Since I was wearing pants and sweaters every day, the only time I could have been bitten was during sleep.
