Surreal
I had the most surreal weekend ever. Due to the parties involved, please email me for full details.
Basically it involves me meeting a local American businessman, him SMSing me that he's interested in me and then later meeting his Romanian girlfriend. I end up letting said Romanian girlfriend crash at my place when he won't let her stay with him. And being up all night comforting her. And being woken up in the morning with frantic Hungarian chatter on the phone.
Otherwise, yesterday was a holiday and the Institute opened late. Except no one told me, and I was standing outside in the rain at 10:00 am. So I left and decided to go watch Dodgeball again, since it was playing at 12:00 pm. I got to the theatre and alas, false advertising. The show was at 2:00 pm. So I went on the lookout again for my elusive hair straightener. After being sent on a wild goose chase, I ended up across town at a fitness centre, where I was promised I could buy a hair straightener there.
No one spoke English. They called over a young man my age to explain where in the city I could buy one. He spoke as much English as I do Romanian. Ie- Not much. So he tries to describe where I might find this magical, all powerful hair straightener, but he speaks so slowly and haltingly that I find it difficult to follow. He keeps staring into my eyes. I'm wondering if there is something disgusting hanging out of my nose. He's staring at me so intensely that I'm asking myself if he finds me odd-looking or is merely captivated by my stunning beauty.
I think it was the latter. When I thanked him for him help, he asked me very shyly if he could ask me something. "Sure!" I replied.
"Can I have your phone number?"
I gave it to him.
