About Me
- Name: Karla
- Location: Canada
I came to Romania straight out of university as an intern working with intercultural education. After extending my contract twice, I realised how much I love my newly adopted country and decided to stay as long as I could. "As long as I could" turned into 361 days. I am now back in Canada, but am hoping to revive this blog to coincide with my new job.

hi karla,
i wanted to comment on many of your posts last week, but blogger would never let me.
i bought halva here in washington state where i live for my wife. she was very surprised to see it and said it brought back a lot of childhood memories.
she wouldn't eat it, though...
i'm so sorry to see you will have to be leaving romania soon. will you change your blog name? i look forward to your new adventures and pix.
What kind of halva did you get?
Have you and Alex ever been to Timisoara? I'm planning on going to Sibiu in a few weeks with another intern. I'm quite excited! We're going to do the whole tour: Bucharest (she wants to see it), Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara, Sinaia, Iasi, Bucovina, Suceava, Satu Mare and then back to Timisoara. if it was warmer, we would go to Constanta too.
I don't want to leave my city. More so than any other place where I lived, I feel "home" here. I'm not just an exchange student or a foreign. I love Timisoara and I don't want to leave.
I don't know what's going to happen to the blog. I don't think I should continue with the Ro-Mania name if I'm not in Romania. I registered a new blog, Burek, so I guess I'll continue that when I go home. I have no idea how interesting it will be though!
Does Alex ever read this blog?
timisoara is the one city i never visited. i've been to Arad, Oradea, Cluj, Brasov, Galati, Constanta, Iasi, etc. etc. i keep meaning to visit since for a lot of people, timisoara is their favorite city. one day.
i'm not sure what kind of halva i bought. i'm on the road, but i can check when i get home. i'm sure it's still there.
i don't think alex has visited your blog, but i've shown her some of the photos you've taken.
