Vote
All you Americans better go out and vote tonight.
Make us foreigners proud.
Problem is that I'm a minimum of seven hours ahead of you, so I may not find out who wins until tomorrow morning.
The wait is killing me. Luckily, we get CNN Europe (slightly less biased than regular CNN but it's in English and I think most of the journalists are ex-BBCers) and Euronews.
I remember watching the Canadian election on CBC. Whenever a Liberal seat was won, the entire office erupted in cheers.
This whole election process reminds me of junior high. You have the goofy, regular "class clown" guy running again the guy who wears (of his own volition) ties to school. Sure, the funny guy might make everyone laugh during recess, but is he really the one you want planning the end of year pizza party?
Brings to mind the Simpsons episode where Bart was campaigning against Martin Prince. Sure, Bart wanted the position, but Martin was definitely more qualified. And he could bring raisin roundies for snacks!
I miss the Simpsons. We get it in German here and Marge still sounds like she's been in prison for thirteen years with nothing to drink but whisky.
I'm seeing deja vu from grade nine all over again. One of the student council president candidates had slogans referring to drugs and alcohol. ("Don't buy a gram, vote for Graham" was the most memorable). Since barely anyone voted, and the grade nine class was forced to vote (so much for democracy), he won by a landslide. He ended up getting kicked out of school a few months later for drug dealing while the vice president assumed his duties.
Is it just me, or should we replace the donkey and the elephant by a monkey and a horse? I've never seen two men ressemble so closely animals before.
Unfortunately, I can't find any "Canadians for Kerry" buttons, but go out and do your duty. Please.

I don't remember his posters, just the speech where he insulted the current student council president (who spent large portions of the speech rubbing his eye with a certain finger).
God, that guy was an idiot.
Stupid americans voting for that arrogant nazi Bush!
Fuck them! Fuck them up their stupid asses!

To become Canadian?
Romanians seem to think it's quite easy. Everyone I've met in Romania either knows someone who immigrated to Canada or is planning on immigrating to Canada themselves.
As far as I know, married, educated families have a fairly easy time getting in. Bonus if they're not fascists and speak either English or French.
Good luck!
