Dacias
I want a Dacia. I want one, I want one, I want one!
It would be so cool to drive a Dacia back home. I'd be the only one with one in New Brunswick. Think of all the hot guys I could pick up.
Dacias are the coolest cars in the world. Yugos have nothing on these babies.
Cristi has one. We call it Aya after the license plate. And every taxi driver drives a Dacia.
I read in some guide book that foreigners should always rent a Dacia when renting a car in Romania (although I don't know why a non-Romanian would want to drive here. Romanian drivers are insane!). Also, that Romanians take pride in being able to assemble and dissasemble a Dacia engine.
Last night, I got a taxi home from Eugen's place. I thought the driver in front of us was drunk. Or on crack. He kept swerving around in the street. Then I realised it was due to the pot holes in the road. My own driver was also swerving to avoid them.
And we complain about New Brunswick roads.
All I can say is that Dacias are indistructable. Cristi's is older than he is and still runs smoothly.
I mentioned Dacias to Adriana at the Institute and she said that Dacias aren't allowed outside the country due to pollution regulations.
I wonder if they sell miniature Dacias. Like little model ones or something.
Anyone know where I can get a model Dacia?
Speaking of cars, I finally figured out the license plate system here. Cars from Timisoara have plates starting with TM, Arad cars' plates start with AR, etc etc. I thought there was an unatural amount of cars from Bucharest, but Donatien pointed out that all new cars have plates starting with B. There's a colour-coded system or something. I wish we had that at home. I always like to know where drivers come from.
Cristi says the worst drivers come from Caras-Severin. So I'm always wary of CS cars.
